@Madeleine Olivia - 5 SIMPLE WAYS TO SHOP SUSTAINABLY
Repost from @Madeleine Olivia
How do we shop sustainably? In today's video I discuss how one of the most important things to consider is what is in your clothes! Is it made from a sustainable or unsustainable materials? 2/3 of textile purchases are made from synthetic fibres (80% of which are non-biodegradable ingredients), that will inevitably end up in our landfill and won't biodegrade. I therefore joined the #MakeItFeelRight movement and want to encourage you to check the label on the clothes and look out for 100% biodegradable material TENCEL™ fibres, often listed as Lyocell or Modal. This material is known for its environmentally responsible closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibres with high resource efficiency and low ecological impact. This solvent-spinning process recycles process water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%. TENCEL™ fibres are fully biodegradable and compostable, and can therefore fully revert back to nature. Other materials to keep an eye for are organic cotton, fair trade cotton, recycled cotton or recycled synthetic materials such as recycled polyester or nylon. Hope you enjoyed learning more about sustainable fashion and let me know in the comments how you shop sustainably!
